We are mainly a bedroom community of a little over 7,300 people. The Township consists of about 13.248 square miles.  We are located between the east and west branches of the Brandywine River.  Click here for the 2000 West Brandywine Township's Demographics. 

The Township has a full time Police Department and maintains over 31 miles of Township roads.  There is also a municipal utilities system operated by the Township Municipal Authority.  Full time office staff and the Township Manager (Ronald A. Rambo, Jr.) are available during the workweek.
 
West Brandywine is a part of the Coatesville Area School District. Two elementary schools and one middle school for the district are located within West Brandywine Township. For direct information about the school district, visit their web site by clicking here

A new Regional Catholic Elementary School (Pope John Paul II) has recently been constructed within the Township that opened in January 2007. 

Taxes are similar to most in Chester County for West Brandywine Township residents and property owners. The Townships real estate taxes are 1.081 mills and the Townships Fire Appropriations Tax is .22 mills. The school district also shares a 1% earned income tax with the Township (1/2% to each) for nonresidents. Residents pay an additional .125 Open Space Tax. The School District and Township also share a 1% (1/2% for each) real estate transfer tax. The Township also levies a yearly $52 Local Services Tax ($47 stays in the Township and $5 goes to the School District).

West Brandywine Police Annual Bike & Safety Fair

12th Annual Bike Derby and Safety Fair
Saturday, May 10, 2008
11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The Bike Derby will be held in the lower parking lot beside the Police Department. This program provides an opportunity for bicyclist to measure their capabilities in our obstacle course as well as increase their awareness of bicycle safety laws.
REMEMBER, YOU MUST WEAR YOUR HELMET TO PARTICIPATE.
